Southeast Bank on Tuesday elected Rehana Rahman as the vice chairperson of the bank in its 744th board meeting held on 8 October 2024.
Rehana Rahman, a prominent female entrepreneur in Bangladesh, held various key roles across several organisations, according to a press release.
In addition to her role as a director at Southeast Bank, she is also the managing director of Bengal Tradeways Ltd.
She also serves as a director at CHB Building Technologies Ltd and the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries.
Rehana Rahman is actively involved in various socio-cultural organisations. She is a past chairperson of North South University, a member of the United Nations Association of Bangladesh (UNAB), and president of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB).
Rehana Rahman, born in a respectable Muslim family in Khulna, completed her B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Eden University College.
Her father, late Abdul Wazed Khan Chowdhury, was the vice principal of Dhaka Teachers Training College. She married M Masihur Rahman, a renowned businessman of the country.
For her outstanding contribution to the causes of women empowerment and female education, she had been awarded Begum Rokeya Shining Personality Award in 2008 and the most dynamic women entrepreneur award in 2009.
She was preceded by Outgoing Vice Chairman Akikur Rahman, who valuably contributed to the bank's development.
