Sabbir Hossain joins Bank Asia as AMD

Md. Sabbir Hossain, a seasoned banker with extensive banking experience, has joined Bank Asia as additional managing director (AMD) and chief operating officer (COO), effective from January 01.

Mr. Hossain brings with him more than three decades of successful banking experience, particularly in the areas of technology, operations, digital transformation, and process re-engineering, according to a press release.

He started his career at ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1994. Afterwards, he joined Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). During his journey with ANZ & SCB, he held several key leadership positions, including head of banking operations, branch operations, personal banking, proximity banking, country technology, operational risk & service quality and later served as head of corporate, institutional and commercial banking operations.

Subsequently, Mr. Hossain worked as country head, operations & technology at Citibank N.A., and later as chief operations officer at MetLife Bangladesh. Prior to joining Bank Asia, he served as deputy managing director and COO of BRAC Bank, where he joined in September 2019. At BRAC Bank, he demonstrated strong leadership in information technology, operations, sustainable finance, digital transformation, and process reengineering initiatives.
