SCB team meets State Minister for Shipping

A delegation of Shippers' Council of Bangladesh led by its Chairman Md Rezaul Karim paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at the latter's office in the city on Wednesday.

A delegation of Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) led by its Chairman Md Rezaul Karim paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at the latter's office in the city on Wednesday, said a press release.

SCB Senior Vice Chairman Md Ariful Ahsan, directors Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Syed Md Bakhtiar, Ziaul Islam, Ganesh Chandra Saha and KM Arifuzzaman were present on the occasion. The SCB Chairman and board of directors congratulated State Minister for receiving the responsibility of the same ministry for the second time.

SCB Chairman placed the SCB activities to the State Minister and said Shippers' Council has been playing vital role for resolving problems of Exporters and Importers from beginning from its establishment.

The chairman expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Shipping for taking steps for developing and modernizing the infrastructure, Sea & Land Port, ICT Terminal & establishing new deep sea port and container terminal.

However sometimes Exporters & Importers faces problem and financial losses due to container congestion, sudden increasing of various charges and labour strike at the Port. The SCB representatives requested to take necessary steps for resolving the problems. They also requested to include Shippers' Council as a member in the newly-Build Sea Port Advisory Committee & Bangladesh Land Port Authority. The state minister assured to resolve the problems.
