Sensex, Nifty pause 6-day winning run

Indian equity benchmarks on Monday paused their six-day winning run to settle lower, dragged by energy, automobile and pharma stocks. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries slipped more than 3 per cent today following a weaker-than-expected earnings report in the June quarter and underscoring a global recession risk that can hurt oil refining margins, reports NDTV.

The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 306 points or 0.55 per cent to close at 55,766 today, while the broader NSE Nifty moved 88 points or 0.53 per cent lower to settle at 16,631.
