Seven listed cos dominate top 10 gainers' chart

Seven listed companies in last week dominated the chart of top 10 gainers mainly riding on quarterly disclosures and information regarding board meetings to be held in this week for October-December (Q2), 2021.

During the week, the share prices of top 10 gainers advanced ranging 13.20 per cent to 60 per cent on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

Of the companies, two have already published quarterly financial statements for the Q2, 2021 and posted hefty growth in EPS (earnings per share) for the period.

The companies are Bangladesh Lamps and Bangladesh Building Systems (BBS) and their share prices advanced 25.29 per cent and 13.40 per cent respectively in five sessions of last week.

The EPS of Bangladesh Lamps rose to Tk 3.15 for October-December, 2021 from Tk 1.03 reported for the same period of the previous year, according to the un-audited financial statement.

The company's net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) also rose significantly. Its NOCFPS was Tk. 11.32 for July-December 2021 against Tk. 2.83 for July-December 2020.

Bangladesh Building Systems reported its EPS of Tk 0.93 for October-December 2021 against Tk. 0.11 for October-December 2020.

As a result, the company's EPS rose 745.45 per cent or Tk 0.82 for the Q2, 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Of other top gainers, Queen South Textile Mills has informed that its board meeting will be held today (Sunday) to consider, among others, un-audited financial statements for October-December, 2021.

The company's share price rose 27.34 per cent in last week and closed at Tk 32.60 each on Thursday.

The board meetings of Yeakin Polymer and Sonargaon Textiles will also be held on Sunday (today) to consider the un-audited financial statements for October-December, 2021.

National Tea Company has informed that its board meeting will be held on Monday (tomorrow) to consider, among others, un-audited quarterly financial statement.

In last week, the company's share price advanced 14.03 per cent and closed at Tk 848.70 each on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in response to a DSE query dated January 24, 2022, the company has informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike and increase in volume of shares.

Malek Spinning Mills which held its board meeting on Thursday was also in the chart of top 10 gainers.

In last week, the company's share price advanced 14.92 per cent and closed at Tk 33.90 each on Thursday.

Of other companies, Union Insurance Company, Prime Insurance Company and Takaful Islami Insurance were also in the chart of top 10 gainers of the premier bourse DSE.

Of these companies, Union Insurance Company topped the chart of gainers as its share price advanced 60 per cent in five sessions.

The share prices of Prime Insurance Company and Takaful Islami Insurance advanced 14.77 per cent and 13.20 per cent respectively in last week on the DSE.
