Shahjalal Islami Bank appoints new leadership

AK Azad chairman, Mohammed Younus and Mohiuddin Ahmed as vice-chairmen

Member of Parliament AK Azad was unanimously elected chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank at its 373rd board meeting. Mohammed Younus and Mohiuddin Ahmed were also appointed vice-chairmen, according to a statement.

Azad, a prominent industrialist, has a long entrepreneurial history in jute, textiles, tea and garments. He leads the Ha-Meem Group and media outlets Channel 24 and Dainik Samakal.

He is actively involved in social and educational initiatives and was the president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) and the Dhaka University Alumni Association.

Newly elected Vice-Chairman Mohammed Younus, with over 30 years of experience, has diverse interests in paper, IT, insurance, agriculture, textiles and cold storage.

He manages numerous companies and publishes Sonalinews.com. He contributes to education through institutions like Fareast International University and Galaxy Flying Academy. He holds leadership positions in sports and cultural organisations.

The other Vice-Chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed, a renowned businessman for over 40 years, owns Rupsha Trading and Mohiuddin Auto House.

He chairs Pacific Automobiles and also is the vice-chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank Securities. He has held leadership roles in Southeast University and the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and actively participates in social welfare activities.
