Shippers' Council holds 44th AGM

SCB Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim presides over the 44th Annual General Meeting of the Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) held in Dhaka on Saturday.

The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) was held at the Fortune Square Convention Hall in Dhaka on Saturday.

Presided over by SCB Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim, the AGM reviewed the country's trade, transport, shipping, port-related challenges, and infrastructure development in the context of the current situation, says a press statement.

It also assessed the performance of the Council over the past year, including measures taken to enhance its services to shippers, such as exporters and importers.

The meeting also discussed its interactions with the Asian Shippers' Alliance (ASA) and the Global Shippers' Alliance (GSA), along with the development of their various activities.

The meeting approved the audited balance sheet and statement of accounts for the year 2024-2025, appointed auditors for the year 2025-2026, and set their remuneration.

At the AGM, the Chairman of the Election Board of the Council, Md. Rafiqul Islam, formally announced the names of the new office-bearers and directors for the term 2026-2027. The are Chairman -- Md. Rezaul Karim, Proprietor, S.N. Jute International; Senior Vice Chairman -- Syed Md. Bakhtiar, Chairman, Active Logistics; Vice Chairman -- Ataur Rahman Khan, Proprietor, A.R. Khan & Co; and Directors -- Ganesh Chandra Saha, Managing Partner, International Jute Traders; Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Proprietor, Arzu Jute Traders; Mohammed Nurussafa Mazumder, Deputy Managing Director, Electro Mart Ltd; Ziaul Islam, Partner, M.S. Fashions; K. M. Arifuzzaman, Proprietor, King Ocean Shipping Lines; Sorowar Alam, Director, Circle Marine Ltd; Rafiur Rahman Khan Yusufzai, Managing Director, E. B. Solutions Limited; and Md. Aminul Islam, Managing Director, Pall Mall Industries Ltd.
