Shipping cos assured to be included in BSTI board

Shipping companies have demanded of the government to be included in the Governing Board of Bangladesh Standards & Testing Institution (BSTI).
The demand was placed on Tuesday when a delegation of Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) led by its Chairman, Md. Rezaul Karim paid a courtesy call on Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Industries.
As requested by SCB Chairman, the Industries Minister assured for including Shippers' Council as a Member in the Governing Board of BSTI, said a statement.
SCB Senior Vice Chairman Ariful Ahsan and Directors : Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Afsar Uddin Ahmed, AKM Aminul Mannan (Khokon), Syed Md. Bakhtiar & Ziaul Islam also attended the meeting.
The SCB Chairman congratulated the Industries Minister and placed the SCB activities to the Minister and said Shippers' Council has been playing a vital role for resolving problems of exporters and importers from the beginning of its establishment.
SCB Chairman said the incumbent government took commendable steps for establishing industry-friendly infrastructure development.
"Now the Ministry of Industries will take initiative to help shore up the investment in the country," the SCB chairman was quoted as saying.
