The Smartphone and Tab Expo which started Thursday last at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city concluded with huge response from visitors on the last day of the three-day event Saturday.
Tab was of key attraction to the visitors compared to other devices and it was the highest selling item at the fair, according to the information of the participants. They said young people, especially students, were the main visitors to the fair and they mostly were interested in choosing tab.
Tab is a device which is smaller in size than laptop and it is also handy and comfortable to use.
Samsung, Nokia, Symphony and some local brands displayed their tabs along with mobile phone devices in the exhibition. Besides, some other companies like LG, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Flora Limited, Arcos, Ainol, Gazette Gang 7 and Coby took part at the fair in 10 pavilions and 8 stalls.
Expo Maker organised the event and mobile phone operator Robi was its title sponsor.
According to witnesses, Samsung got spot booking of its newly released Galaxy S5. However, tabs priced below Tk 15,000 were sold tremendously.
Prices of tabs of local brand Symphony, HTS and INOL were around Tk 15,000 or below. Nokia offered a 5.0 per cent cash discount on its every product sold during the fair.
Apart from mobile devices or tabs, some new applications were also displayed in the event. Of them, one gaming application - "Liberation 71" -got massive response from the visitors.
On Friday night, the organisers distributed prizes among the winners who participated in the contest by using Facebook page of the event.
