Southeast Bank Limited signed an agreement with Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) Tuesday for online collection of electricity bills from DESCO subscribers through branches and over the Internet Banking of Southeast Bank through a Real Time Online System.
Under the agreement, from now on DESCO subscribers can pay their monthly electricity bills, Security Deposit and Miscellaneous payments at any branches of Southeast Bank Ltd which will be reconciled instantly through a Real Time Online System.
Mr. S.M Mainuddin Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director, Southeast Bank Limited and Engr. Md. Shofiqul Islam, Company Secretary, DESCO jointly signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Dhaka, Southeast Bank Additional Managing Director, Mr. Mohammed Gofran, said "this is the beginning of a partnership that will see Southeast Bank offers DESCO a customised collection solution that will meet their specific needs."
Mr. Gofran explained that the partnership will offer over 6 Lac DESCO customers greater convenience when settling bills, with a wider choice of payment locations, through the Southeast Banks branch network.
"The bank will provide comprehensive information to DESCO on customers who make payment through the Bank, via the electronic banking, thereby making reconciliation of customer records faster," added the Additional Managing Director.
The second phase of the partnership will include payment of bills through debit cards, credit cards, ATMs, and mobile phones.
Mr. Mohammed Gofran, Additional Managing Director, Mr. Giash Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. M. Kamal Hossain, Deputy Managing Director of Southeast Bank Limited, Engr. A.K.M. Mostafa Kamal, Executive Director (Procurement), Mr. Md. Rafi Uddin, Executive Director (Finance & Accounts), Mr. Mohammad Shafayet Hossain, Executive Director (Admin/HR) of DESCO along with other senior officials of both the organizations were also present on the occasion.
