Square Pharma leads DSE transaction chart

Top ten cos snare 40pc turnover

Square Pharmaceuticals dominated the turnover chart of the Dhaka bourse Monday while ten most traded companies grabbed nearly 40 per cent of total transactions.

Market analysts said investors showed their buying appetite for Square Pharmaceuticals shares throughout the session as a fundamentally sound issue.

According to statistics from the DSE, about 10.03 million shares of Square Pharma were traded, generating a turnover of more than Tk 450 million, which was 6.26 per cent of the prime bourse's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 7.18 billion on Monday, which was Tk 5.81 billion in the previous session.

The company's share price closed at Tk 274.10 on Monday, gaining 1.18 per cent over the previous day.

In the last five straight days, the second largest market-cap company's share price rose 4.0 per cent. Its share traded between Tk 247.10 and Tk 321 in the last one year.

The consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood Tk 3.96 for October-December, 2018 as against Tk 3.62 for October-December, 2017;

The consolidated EPS was Tk 7.98 in six months for July-December, 2018 as against Tk 7.43 for July-December, 2017.

The consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 7.32 for July-December, 2018 as against Tk 8.09 for July-December, 2017.

The consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 77.90 as on December 31, 2018 and Tk 73.28 as on June 30, 2018.

Square Pharma, which was listed on the DSE in 1995, disbursed 36 per cent cash and 7.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 7.89 billion, authorised capital is Tk 10 billion and the total number of securities is 789 million.

The sponsor-directors own 34.43 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 9.98 per cent, foreign investors 19.68 per cent and the general public 35.91 per cent as of January 31, 2019.

The Monno Ceramic came in second, with shares worth Tk 341 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 376.80 each, advancing 4.06 per cent over the previous session.

Khulna Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 338 million changing hands. The company's share advanced 1.65 per cent to close at Tk 67.40 each.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 334 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 174.20, losing 1.02 per cent.

Grameenphone notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 301 million changing hands. The largest market-cap company's share price rose 3.06 per cent to close at Tk 397.40.
