Stock trading resumes today after 6-day Eid holidays

Trading and official activities on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will resume today (Tuesday) after six-day Eid holidays, officials said.

The trading on the bourses will begin at 10:30 am and continue till 2:30 pm while the office will begin at 9:30 am and continue till 5.30 pm, said a DSE official.

Trading and official activities on the bourses remained closed from July 15 to July 20 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The DSE and CSE authorities reduced trading time by an hour during the holy month of Ramadan. Trading on the bourses took place at 10:30am and continued till 1:30pm instead of 2:30pm during the Ramadan.

The bourses also changed their office timing during Ramadan. The office of DSE and CSE remained open at 9:30am as usual and continued till 4.0pm instead of 5.30pm during Ramadan.

Meanwhile, DSEX extended gaining streak for the six consecutive sessions, the last trading session before Eid vacation. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 27.28 points or 0.58 per cent to reach at four months' high level at 4,656.13.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose 5.81 points or 0.32 per cent to settle at 1,820.88. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.27 points or 0.46 per cent to end at 1,147.21 on that day.

The port city bourse CSE also closed higher for the six running sessions with its Selective Categories Index - CSCX - gained 44 points to close at 8,714, the last session before Eid holidays.
