Tax Service Month begins

November 04, 2024 00:00:00

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) may consider extending the deadline for income tax return submission due to disruptions caused by student-led mass movement in July and August.

"We will discuss the matter with the policymakers. If they agree, then the time may be extended. But there is no scope to tell in advance," NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan said on Sunday, reports UNB.

He was speaking at a press briefing at the NBR conference room on the occasion of announcing Tax Service Month.

The NBR chairman, however, said that till now the revenue collecting authority was not thinking of anything regarding time extension. "Let us see the income tax return submission first."

He said that during the mass uprising in July and August people were away from their regular activities.

As per the normal procedure, November 30 is the last day for income tax return submission for the individual taxpayers.

The NBR chairman said that instead of organising income tax fair, services for receipt of income tax returns would be provided throughout the month of November in a fair manner as in previous years in all tax zones.

"All other taxpayers in the country are encouraged to file e-returns and pay income tax online," he said.
