Ten cos grab upto 46.5pc of DSE’s total turnover

Some 10 listed companies have been playing the role of market movers continuously capturing a significant portion of the daily turnover witnessed by Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
Since April 3 to April 13, out of 311 listed companies, only 10 companies jointly captured around 28 per cent to 46.5 per cent of total turnover, according to information of the premier bourse.
And the total turnover of the remaining 301 listed companies varied between 53.3 per cent to 73 per cent  of total turnover during the period.  
The transaction figures of the premier bourse indicate that the daily turnover is mostly dependent on some top 10 companies.
Echoing with DSE information, some institutional investors said the turnover of the market is mostly dependent on some companies.
"Some companies witness high turnover due to different events such as corporate declarations or business prospects. Turnovers also trigger investors' participation," said Md. Moniruzzaman, managing director of the IDLC Investments.
He said once investors' attraction fades and some companies also fail to secure place in the chart of mostly traded stocks.
The companies, which were in the chart of top ten turnover leaders, include BSRM limited, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, IBN Sina, , LankaBangla Finance, Aman Feed, Keya Cosmetics, Titas Gas, ACI Limited, Doreen Power Generations and Systems and Olympic Industries.
 Since April 3, first trading day of this month, the DSE witnessed daily turnover ranging between Tk 3.1 billion to Tk 4.7 billion.
And top 10 companies captured 29 per cent of total turnover on April 3, 29 per cent on April 4, 30 per cent on April 5, 46 per cent on April 6, 28 per cent on April 7, 36 per cent on April 9, 34.2 per cent on April 10, 41.1 per cent on April 11, 46.5 per cent on April 12 and 38.7 per cent on April 13.
According to the DSE, investors' concentration was observed on the shares of those companies which were in the chart of mostly traded stocks.
Some of the top 10 companies, however, witnessed rise and decline in market prices.
Transactions occurred in nine days since April 3 to April 13 and BRSM was in the list of top 10 turnover leaders for all trading sessions during the period.
LankaBangla Finance was in the chart of top 10 turnover leaders for seven sessions out of nine sessions.
The other companies which were in the chart of most traded stocks for than more than four sessions are Aman Feed, Olympic Industries, Keya Cosmetics, Power Grid of Bangladesh and Titas Gas.
