Ten firms grab 25pc of weekly turnover on DSE


The ten most-traded companies accounted for nearly one-fourth of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Beximco leading the turnover chart for the second straight week.
The total turnover stood at Tk 27.71 billion on the DSE this week as against Tk 19.62 billion in the previous week.
Market operators said Bangladesh Export Import Company (Beximco) -- the flagship company of Beximco Group -- topped the turnover chart again as investors were active in both buying and selling the company's shares.
According to the DSE data, some 11.92 million Beximco shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 1.45 billion, which was 5.25 per cent of the week's total turnover.
Beximco's share closed at Tk 116.60 on Thursday, losing 8.91 per cent over the previous week. Its shares hovered between Tk 13 and Tk 187.90 in the last two years.
Sonali Paper & Board Mills came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 982 million changing hands. The company's share price shed 0.27 per cent to close at Tk 639.70 on Thursday.
Delta Life Insurance clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 755 million changing hands. The life insurer's share closed at Tk 141.50 on Thursday, losing 4.65 per cent.
Intraco Refueling Station notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 616 million changing hands. The company's share price dropped 3.02 per cent to close at Tk 28.90.
Turnover of KDS Accessories was Tk 600 million. Its share price jumped 14.97 cent to close at Tk 74.50.
Orion Infusion featured a turnover of Tk 564 million. Its share closed at Tk 107.10, soaring 11.91 per cent over the previous week.
The turnover of Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company was Tk 550 million. The state-run entity's share plunged 8.99 per cent to close at Tk 42.50 on Thursday.
Fortune Shoes featured a turnover of Tk 492 million. The shoe maker's share closed at Tk 80.10.
The turnover of British American Tobacco Bangladesh was Tk 355 million. The multinational company's share price dropped 2.79 per cent to close at Tk 523.40 on Thursday.
Shinepukur Ceramics also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 347 million changing hands. The company's share fell 9.17 per cent to close at Tk 43.60 on Thursday, the last day of the week.
