Three banks among top ten most-traded firms

Ten most traded cos grab 47pc transaction

Ten most-traded stocks accounted for more than 47 per cent transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Wednesday while Beximco dominated the turnover chart.

Market insiders said Beximco, the flagship company of Beximco Group, topped the turnover list again amid influx of buyers and sellers in the market.

Beximco Group companies have led the market from the front in the past few months as investors showed their buying interest of their stocks, they said.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 7.50 million shares of Beximco were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 1.22 billion, which was 11 per cent of the premier bourse's total transactions.

The company's share price also jumped 9.80 per cent to close at Tk 166.90 on Wednesday.

The news of a big jump in Beximco's earnings per share (EPS) for July-September, 2021, led to buoyancy in the market, according to a leading broker.

The company's EPS soared 2835 per cent to Tk 4.11 for July-September 2021, as against Tk 0.14 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

"Exploring new markets and product lines in textile, the company executed more orders and due to Covid-19, old orders were also executed in the current year which impacted on revenue and thus increased earnings per share," according to a disclosure.

ONE Bank came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.13 billion changing hands. The company's share price fell 3.48 per cent to close at Tk 19.4 each on Wednesday after recent upsurge.

First Security Islami Bank clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 772 million changing hands. The bank's share closed at Tk 15.30, soaring 9.29 per cent.

Delta Life Insurance emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 464 million changing hands. The life insurer's share soared 8.14 per cent to close at Tk 215.10 each.

The newly-listed Acme Pesticides notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 319 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 33.60, losing slightly by 0.88 per cent.

The turnover of IFIC Bank was Tk 269 million. The bank's share closed at Tk 19.30, advancing 1.58 per cent over the previous session.

Genex Infosys featured a turnover of Tk 243 million. The company's share rose 2.11 per cent to close at Tk 160 each.

The turnover of Orion Pharma was Tk 196 million. The drug maker's share gained 0.10 per cent to close at Tk 103.70 each.

Paramount Textile featured a turnover of Tk 175 million. The company's share closed at Tk 96.10 each, gaining 1.48 per cent.

Fortune Shoes also made its way to the day's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 173 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 4.13 per cent to close at Tk 97.10 each.
