Ten most-traded stocks grab one-third turnover

Ten most-traded stocks grabbed one-third turnover of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday while ONE Bank dominated the turnover and losers lists.

Investors were mostly active in the banking sector stocks as the sector captured 19 per cent of the day's total turnover with three banks featuring in the top turnover list.

ONE Bank topped the turnover chart with 53.02 million shares worth more than Tk 884 million changing hands, capturing 7.70 per cent of the day's total turnover.

ONE Bank was also the day's worst loser, losing 9.84 per cent to close at Tk 16.50 per share on Sunday as investors dumped its shares throughout the day, after gaining sharply in the past few days.

The bank has reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 1.64 for January-September 2021 against Tk 1.15 for January-September 2020.

The bank has decided to increase its authorised capital from Tk 10 billion to Tk 18.50 billion, subject to the approval of the shareholders and regulatory authorities.

Beximco-- the flagship company of Beximco Group -- came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 556 million changing hands. The company's share price dropped 2.20 per cent to close at Tk 159.90 each on Sunday.

Saif Powertec clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 470 million changing hands. The company's price closed at Tk 44.40, soaring 4.72 per cent over the previous day.

Sonali Paper & Board Mills emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 402 million changing hands. The company's share price surged 7.50 per cent to close at Tk 691.10 each on Sunday.

The Sonali Paper's share price jumped over 185 per cent or Tk 449 each in the past six months despite no price sensitive information.

Fortune Shoes notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 314 million changing hands. The footwear maker's share price closed at Tk 92.90, advancing by 3.68 per cent.

The turnover of British American Tobacco Bangladesh was Tk 239 million. The tobacco producer's share price closed at Tk 659, advancing 1.35 per cent over the previous day.

First Security Islami Bank featured a turnover of Tk 228 million. The bank's share price plunged 5.63 per cent to close at Tk 13.40 each.

The turnover of IFIC Bank was Tk 228 million. The bank's share price fell 3.24 per cent to close at Tk 17.90 each.

Delta Life Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 202 million. The life insurer's share closed at Tk 186.40, losing 4.99 per cent.

GSP Finance also made its way to the day's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 182 million changing hands. The company's share price plunged by 4.03 per cent to close at Tk 26.20 each.
