Grameenphone (GP), the largest market cap listed company, dominated the Dhaka bourse's transaction chart Tuesday, while ten top-traded companies accounted for 25 per cent of total transactions.
Market operators said GP became the turnover leader following the news of its final dividend declaration and earning disclosures.
The board of directors of GP has recommended 100 per cent final cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2017 on Tuesday. And the total dividend will be 205 per cent. The company already paid 105 per cent interim cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2017.
The lone listed mobile phone company also posted 21.76 per cent growth in earnings per share (EPS) year-on-year in 2017 to Tk 20.31.
The net asset value (NAV) of the company per share was Tk 26.10 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 42.79 for the year ended on December 31, 2017 as against Tk 16.68, Tk. 24.86 and Tk. 34.18 respectively for the same period of the previous year.
In 2016, the company disbursed a total of 175 per cent cash dividend.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 578,664 shares of GP were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 293 million, which was 7.34 per cent of the Dhaka bourse's total transactions.
GP's shares price traded between Tk 504.10 and Tk 511, before closing at Tk 505, losing 1.04 per cent over the previous day.
Apart from GP, the most other active shares in terms of value included City Bank, Monno Ceramic Industries, Nahee Aluminum, BD Finance, Aamra Networks, Square Pharmaceuticals, National Tubes, Popular Life Insurance and IFAD Autos.
The City Bank came next, with shares worth Tk 111 million changing hands. The bank's share price fell 3.36 per cent to close at Tk 43.20.
Monno Ceramic was third on the turnover list with shares worth Tk 89 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 116.40, advancing 5.72 per cent over the previous day.
Nahee Aluminum clinched the fourth spot, with shares worth Tk 86 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 4.04 per cent to close at Tk 61.70.
BD Finance emerged fifth with shares worth Tk 79 million changing hands. The non-bank financial institution's share price closed at Tk 23.80, advancing 0.85 per cent over the previous day.
Aamra Networks also saw its shares worth Tk 79 million change hands. The IT company's share price soared 4.29 per cent to close at Tk 92.40 following its positive second quarter earnings declaration.
The turnover of Square Pharmaceuticals was Tk 69 million. Each share of the second largest market cap company's share price closed at Tk 327.10, losing 0.88 per cent.
National Tubes featured a turnover of Tk 67 million. The state-run company's share price fell 2.54 per cent to close at Tk 134.30.
The turnover of Popular Life Insurance was Tk 66 million. The life insurer's share price advanced 0.51 per cent to close at Tk 79.50.
The IFAD Autos also found its way to the top ten turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 65 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.29 per cent to close at 130.20.
