Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Md Tajul Islam has laid emphasis on concerted efforts to achieve the targets of sustainable development goals (SDG) by 2030, reports BSS.

"We have been successful for attaining the targets of MDG (millennium development goal)… We have to achieve the targets of SDGs in the light of experiences of MDG," he said while addressing as the chief guest a workshop on "Review the progress of SDG, 2020", organised by the Local Government Division at Department of Public Health Engineering auditorium in the city's Kakrail.

The sustainable development goals (SDG) is a multi-dimensional plan and it involves human development, social development, economic development and environmental development, he mentioned. The successful implementation of SDG depends on the people, so its localisation is very important, he noted.

Local Government Division Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed presided over the programme while Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Affairs in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Zuena Aziz spoke as the special guest.
