ICAB observes International Accounting Day 2019

Thrust on ensuring financial transparency, integrity

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) observed the International Accounting Day 2019 on Sunday. A rally was brought out by the Dhaka Regional Committee-ICAB and attended by students from different CA firms, public and private universities to commemorate the day.

International Accounting Day 2019 was observed on Sunday across the country and the speakers called for bringing transparency and integrity in the audited reports.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and Dhaka Regional Committee-ICAB brought out a rally, attended by students from different CA firms, public and private universities to commemorate the day.

South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), a Forum of professional accounting bodies of SAARC countries, celebrates this day to highlight the importance of accounting profession on November 10 every year.

The date, November 10th, happens to bear great significance for the accountancy community. Italian Mathematician and Franciscan friar, Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli authored a book titled "Summa de Arithmetica Geometria Proportioni et Propotionalita" (Everything about Arithmetic, Geometry and Proportion) which was published in Venice on November 10, 1494. First of its kind, the book aimed to summarize the mathematical knowledge of that time. It is considered to be the first printed essay on double entry book keeping called "Method of Venice" and was a direct base of some widespread works on mercantile accounting.

ICAB Council Members Gopal Chandra Ghosh FCA, Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA, Mahamud Hosain FCA, the Chairman of Dhaka Regional Committee- ICAB, AHM Ariful Islam FCA, and other members of DRC led the rally.
