Top 5 Sensex cos add Rs 311.65b in market valuation

NEW DELHI, Aug 31 (PTI):  The combined market valuation of five of the top-10 blue-chip Sensex companies surged by Rs 311.65 billion last week.

While TCS, ONGC, RIL, ITC and ICICI Bank saw gains in their market capitalisation (m-cap), CIL, Infosys, HDFC Bank, SBI and Sun Pharmaceutical suffered losses on the other hand.

The country's most valued company TCS also emerged as the biggest gainer among the top-10 firms. The m-cap of TCS surged Rs 123.30 billion to Rs 4945.0 billion.

The market value of ITC climbed Rs 91.23 billion to Rs 2829.60 billion, while ONGC added Rs 71.01 billion to Rs 3722.92 billion.

ICICI Bank's m-cap rose by Rs 22.07 billion to Rs 1800.69 billion and that of RIL went up by Rs 4.04 billion to Rs 3231.49 billion.

On the other hand, SBI's value declined by Rs 47.15 billion to Rs 1836.91 billion.
