Top four cos see 'unusual' price rise on DSE

Four listed companies dominated the weekly gainers' chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week, driven by unusual price rise in their shares.

During the week, these firms' share prices jumped as high as 50.89 per cent on the DSE even though none of them disclosed any price sensitive information (PSI).

The companies are Orion Infusion, Metro Spinning, Paper Processing and Packaging and Union Capital and they took the first four spots on the gainers' chart respectively.

The share price of Orion Infusion soared 50.89 per cent last week to lead the gainers' chart.

The company featured a weekly turnover of Tk 222.97 million and its share price closed at Tk 220 each on the DSE.

In response to a DSE query dated August 03, Orion Infusion informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike and increase in volume of shares.

The share price of Metro Spinning advanced 50.39 per cent last week and closed at Tk 38.80 each on Thursday. During the week, the company posted a turnover of Tk 204.22 million.

In response to a DSE query dated August 24, the company informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike.

Paper Processing and Packaging saw its share price jump 31.59 per cent and featured a turnover of Tk 148.28 million last week. At the end of the week, the company's share price closed at Tk 272 each.

In response to a DSE query dated August 23, the company informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike.

The Union Capital's share price rose 28.57 per cent, featuring a turnover of Tk 65.13 million. At the end of the week, the company's share price closed at Tk 13.50 each.

In response to a DSE query dated August 22, Union Capital informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike.

The other companies which made their way into the top 10 gainers' list are Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing Company, Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills, Summit Alliance Port, IPDC Finance, Apex Foods and Far East Knitting & Dyeing Industries.

These companies' share price increased in a range between 22.22 per cent and 25.49 per cent last week on the premier bourse.
