Turnover on DSE declines to Tk 7.71b

The market faced marginal correction Tuesday after four sessions’ gaining streak with turnover dropped slightly as investors booked profit from their previous purchase.
The market started with a positive note and the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) --- DSEX --- gained 45 points within the opening 50 minutes of trading. However, the momentum did not last long amid profit booking tendency of traders, eventually ended marginally lower.
At the end of the session, DSEX went down by 16.96 points or 0.35 per cent to close at 4,809.54 points after surging 119.97 points in the last four consecutive sessions.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) went down by 1.81 points or 0.18 per cent to close at 979.71 points. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also dropped 7.74 points or 0.46 per cent to close the session at 1,663.69 points.
The total turnover on DSE stood at Tk 7.71 billion, registering 4.04 per cent decline over the previous session's turnover value of Tk 8.04 billion.
"After posting a four day-long uptrend, market went for a natural correction," said LankaBangla Securities, a leading stock broker, in its daily market analysis.
Following to daily momentum, market's closing below the 10 days moving average is an indication of the short-term trend remaining positive, said the stock broker.
"Investors witnessed a cautious trading after crossing 4,800 point-mark for the first time in history of benchmark index," said the stock broker.
