United Commercial Bank (UCB) on Tuesday brought in a new range of products, both for depositors and borrowers, in alignment with the Three Zeroes vision, of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The products were launched through a press conference held at the bank's head office at Gulshan in the capital. The Three Zeroes are zero poverty, zero carbon, and zero unemployment.
The newly-launched products include Swadhin (zero unemployment), Somota (zero poverty) and Sabuj Sonchoy (zero carbon).
In addition, three new loan packages, which were launched, are: UCB Progoti (zero poverty), UCB Shobuj Shomriddhi (zero carbon) and UCB Shuchona (zero unemployment).
In his book, 'A World of Three Zeroes', the chief adviser of the interim government envisioned a world defined by the Three Zeroes.
Sharif Zahir, chairman of UCB, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Abdul Hai Khan, executive vice chairman, Grameen Trust, was the special guest.
Sharif Zahir said, "As a responsible entity, UCB is committed to introducing sustainable banking solutions and relevant products so that the world gets a bit more livable for us all."
