UK MHRA approves two Renata factories

The Medicines and Healthcare products Agency (MHRA) of the UK has approved two factories of Renata Limited, a listed company, in Bangladesh, according to a company disclosure.

One of the factories is the Potent Product Facility at Mirpur and the other is the General Facility at Rajendrapur.

Besides, Renata has also received registration for two products in the UK, said the company disclosure posted on website of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday.

Sales of Hydrocortisone 10mg and 20mg tablets will begin in February, followed by Colcichine 500mg tablets, it added.

The company also said the government of Bangladesh has approved the acquisition of two Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) by Renata. "Accordingly, the company expects to begin their US business later this year."

The two manufacturing sites in Mirpur and Rajendrapur have also been approved by ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental Management) and BS OHSAS 18001: 2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management), the company said.

According to DSE information, sponsor-directors hold 51.16 per cent shares in Renata, while institutes hold 17.49 per cent shares, foreign shareholder 21.78 per cent and public shareholders 9.57 per cent.
