BSCL clears Tk 291.5m tax dues, posts first-ever profit

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has cleared Tk 291.5 million in outstanding income tax liabilities accumulated during its first four fiscal years of operation, marking a significant step towards strengthening its financial governance.
The payment, completed in June, covers fiscal years 2018-19 to 2021-22. BSCL said the current management reviewed its financial administration after assuming responsibility and initiated measures to settle long-standing liabilities.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Imadur Rahman said the company had prioritised transparency and financial discipline, with the tax settlement forming part of a broader effort to resolve inherited obligations.
According to BSCL, the state-owned company became profitable for the first time in fiscal year 2024-25, posting a net profit of Tk 383.5 million after generating Tk 2.4513 billion in revenue against Tk 2.0677 billion in expenditure.
