Robi leads corporate blood donation drive

for thalassemia patients

Robi Axiata PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to community health and social responsibility by organizing a blood donation campaign on 28 May at its headquarters in Shanta Forum Tower, in partnership with the Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation.

The initiative drew participation from over 100 donors, including employees of Robi, Unilever, McDonald, Shanta Holdings, and other organizations in the Shanta Forum community.

Each donor also received six free basic health checkups, adding value to their contribution.

Robi's Board of Directors and senior leadership were present at the event, expressing gratitude to participants and encouraging broader involvement in future humanitarian initiatives.

This marks a continuation of Robi's support for thalassemia patients following a similar drive last year. Thalassemia, a genetic disorder affecting hemoglobin production, remains a pressing health concern in Bangladesh. According to 2024 BBS data, 18.2 million people (11.4 per cent of the population) are carriers, and 6,000-8,000 children are born with the condition annually.

Dr. Syeda Masooma Rahman, Vice-Chairman of the Foundation, praised Robi as the highest corporate blood donor in 2024. Robi's Shahed Alam emphasized the collective compassion behind the effort, reinforcing the company's role as a leader in corporate social responsibility.
