The Asia Pacific Regional Tournament of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Open Championship will take place in Manila, Philippines, from September 18 to 21. Around 250 student teams from 47 countries will participate in the event, organized by Felta Multimedia Inc. under WRO Philippines' national initiative. Bangladesh will also compete in the tournament, with team selection and registration being conducted by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) and World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBd). Registration will remain open until June 30. Each participating team can include 2-3 members and one coach. The selected teams will represent Bangladesh at the WRO Asia-Pacific Open Championship. The WRO Open Championship is held annually across continents-Americas, Europe, Middle East-North Africa, and Asia-Pacific-to make participation accessible and foster local student interest in robotics. Bangladesh will send four teams across three categories: two in Future Innovators, one in Future Engineers, and one in Robosports.

The Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) signed an agreement to adopt Huawei's Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) recently for enhancing its disaster recovery (DR) capabilities. The contract was signed between EGCB and Huawei's local partner, Omega Exim Ltd., at Huawei Bangladesh Headquarters in Dhaka. Under the two-year agreement, Huawei IaaS will provide EGCB with a secure, scalable environment for data backup, replication, routine recovery testing, and rapid restoration during operational disruptions.
Omega Exim Ltd. will handle local deployment, project management, staff training, and long-term maintenance. EGCB's Superintending Engineer Mohammad Rasheduzzaman Khan emphasized the importance of modernizing DR infrastructure, citing Huawei's unmatched expertise.
