EGCB partners with Huawei for advanced disaster recovery infrastructure
The Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) signed an agreement to adopt Huawei's Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) recently for enhancing its disaster recovery (DR) capabilities. The contract was signed between EGCB and Huawei's local partner, Omega Exim Ltd., at Huawei Bangladesh Headquarters in Dhaka. Under the two-year agreement, Huawei IaaS will provide EGCB with a secure, scalable environment for data backup, replication, routine recovery testing, and rapid restoration during operational disruptions.
Omega Exim Ltd. will handle local deployment, project management, staff training, and long-term maintenance. EGCB's Superintending Engineer Mohammad Rasheduzzaman Khan emphasized the importance of modernizing DR infrastructure, citing Huawei's unmatched expertise. Omega Exim Director Abdullah Al Maksud Begh and Huawei South Asia Cloud Director Zhong Yubing highlighted Huawei Cloud's global experience, reliability, and rapid growth, particularly in the APAC region, where it leads in hybrid cloud solutions in Bangladesh, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
