Axentec to explore 5G smart port solutions for Chittagong port
Axentec PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata PLC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to conduct a feasibility study on implementing 5G-based smart port services through automation.
The MoU was signed at the CPA headquarters on Sunday afternoon, with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun present as chief guest. CPA Chairman Rear Admiral M Muniruzzaman OSP, NDC, NCC, PSC, and Axentec Managing Director and CEO Adil Hossain Noble signed on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the agreement, Axentec will assess the feasibility of establishing a 5G private network for the port, enabling advanced services such as real-time security monitoring, smart access control, automated laboratory operations, and intelligent operation of vehicles and gantry cranes.
"This agreement marks a milestone in our 5G journey," said Adil Hossain Noble. "We are confident our enterprise-level 5G smart solutions will enhance the efficiency of the Chittagong Port Authority."
The signing was attended by Robi Axiata's Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam, Cluster Market Director Md Ashraful Kabir, Axentec's Chief Commercial Officer Abul Kalam Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Director-Corporate Business Md Asaduzzaman, and senior officials from both organisations.
