Dhaka to host HackerOne bug hunt and InfoSec conference again

Dhaka will host the Information Security Conference and HackerOne Bug Hunt for the third time on January 10, featuring an on-site hacking competition at the National Science and Technology Complex, Agargaon.

The event promotes ethical hacking, vulnerability research and real-world cybersecurity practices. Speakers include Nazmul Hossain Nirab of TechnoNext, Syed Faraz Abrar of Jellix and Mohammad Abdullah of Augmedix.

According to organisers, 500 hackers registered by November 5, with 55 participants advancing after the qualifier round on November 21. Registration for the final phase opened on December 21 and will remain open until January 1. Launched in 2023, the conference will be held on a larger scale this year as part of HackerOne Bug Hunt 2026, bringing together cybersecurity professionals, developers and students. Organisers describe it as a "learning battlefield" blending theory with real-world challenges.

TikTok hosts first creator day in Dhaka

TikTok hosted its first-ever Creator Day 2025 in Dhaka, bringing together content creators, publishers and media professionals for an immersive learning and celebration event. Designed as a workshop-style experience with a carnival atmosphere, the programme aimed to equip creators with practical skills while celebrating Bangladesh's vibrant digital community.

Participants took part in interactive workshops and panel discussions on content planning, storytelling, filming techniques and effective use of TikTok's in-app tools. The event also featured games, creative activities, giveaways and a friendly creator football match, adding to the festive spirit.

The programme highlighted success stories from leading creators across film, television and sports. "Bangladesh has an incredibly talented creator community," said Umais Naveed, Content Operations Lead, South Asia, TikTok, noting the platform's commitment to responsible storytelling and creator empowerment.

TikTok also shared its 2026 content priorities, reinforcing its support for Bangladesh's growing digital ecosystem.

BYD Bangladesh holds first youth apprenticeship programme

BYD Bangladesh has completed the first phase of its Youth Apprenticeship Programme 2025, marking the country's first structured automotive apprenticeship for future industry leaders. The initiative offered hands-on exposure to new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies and BYD's proprietary innovations.

Ten students from BUET, AUST, IUB, MIST and UIU took part in the inaugural batch, undergoing intensive training that combined classroom learning with practical demonstrations aligned with global automotive standards. The curriculum covered EV powertrains, hybrid systems, BYD's Blade Battery technology, supply chain operations, connectivity and safety.

Led by in-house experts Md Rezwan Rahman and Nakibul Islam, the programme concluded with a certification ceremony attended by CMO Imtiaz Nawsher and Head of Supply Chain Hossain Mohammad Imteaz. BYD said the initiative reflects its long-term commitment to education, sustainability and developing Bangladesh's future automotive workforce.
