foodpanda rewards 100 delivery partners
Food delivery platform foodpanda Bangladesh has honoured 100 of its top-performing delivery partners, with three riders receiving fully funded Umrah packages for their outstanding performance during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Seven other delivery partners were awarded smartphones, while 40 received wireless earbuds and 50 were presented with power banks. The prizes were handed over by Managing Director and Co-founder Zubair Siddiky at a ceremony held at the company's Dhaka headquarters.
Head of Logistics Mukitur Khan said the initiative recognised the dedication of delivery partners who worked throughout the festive period. One of the Umrah package recipients, Md Alauddin Saber, described the award as an unexpected and inspiring recognition of his hard work.
Since 2021, foodpanda has run similar reward campaigns, with five riders previously receiving Umrah packages. The initiative is part of the company's 'pandahearts' programme supporting riders' welfare, safety, healthcare, insurance and personal development.

Sophos survey finds 71 per cent of firms
faced identity breaches
Cybersecurity company Sophos has reported that 71 per cent of organisations worldwide experienced at least one identity-related security breach over the past year, according to its State of Identity Security 2026 report.
The survey, conducted among 5,000 IT and cybersecurity leaders across 17 countries, found that organisations suffered an average of three identity-related incidents each. Two-thirds of ransomware victims said attacks originated from compromised identities.
The report identified human error and weak management of non-human identities as the leading causes of breaches, accounting for 43 per cent and 41 per cent of incidents respectively. It also highlighted growing risks associated with AI-driven digital identities.
Sophos said the average recovery cost from identity-related attacks reached US$1.64 million, with 73 per cent of affected organisations spending more than US$250,000.
The company recommended stronger multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access controls and wider adoption of Zero Trust security frameworks.

TP-Link unveils 'World's First' Wi-Fi 8
router ahead of standard
TP-Link has unveiled the Archer 8, which it describes as the world's first Wi-Fi 8 router, despite the global Wi-Fi 8 standard not being expected to be finalised until 2028.
The company plans to launch the router commercially in October 2026, claiming it can deliver internet speeds up to 33 per cent faster and more stable than current Wi-Fi 7 systems, particularly over longer distances and in multi-storey buildings.
However, the product's future in the United States remains uncertain due to increased scrutiny of foreign-manufactured networking equipment. U.S. regulators have reportedly raised national security concerns over some imported routers, leading to tighter approval processes for new devices.
TP-Link said it remains committed to complying with regulatory requirements and advancing Wi-Fi 8 technology globally. The company also plans to introduce Wi-Fi 8 mesh systems, travel routers and range extenders in 2027.

itel launches 180-Day replacement
warranty for feature phones
Mobile handset brand itel Bangladesh has introduced a 180-day replacement warranty for feature phones purchased from 20 May 2026 onwards, ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
Under the scheme, customers experiencing qualifying manufacturing defects within the first six months of purchase will receive a brand-new handset instead of a repair. The replacement service will be available through Carlcare service centres.
The warranty covers issues such as power failures, display defects, charging problems, microphone or speaker malfunctions, network connectivity faults and keypad defects. Customers must present the handset, original purchase receipt and packaging to claim the replacement.
After the initial 180-day replacement period, devices will continue to receive standard warranty support for the remainder of the first year.
itel said the initiative is intended to simplify after-sales service and strengthen customer confidence in its feature phone range, which remains popular in Bangladesh's budget mobile segment.
