30,051 tonnes of fish output likely in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Aug 2 (BSS): The Fisheries Department is working hard to achieve the fish production target of 30,051 tonnes in the district this year.

District Fisheries Officer Ranjit Kumar Paul said this while speaking at a views-exchange meeting organised by Fisheries Department in observance of the National Fisheries Week in the town today.

Mr Paul said fish production was 21,812 tonnes in 2010 in the district. After implementing various programmes, the production stood at 29,091 tonnes in 2014, he added.

Among others, Assistant Director Abu Hanifa, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md Aminul Islam and Fish Seeds Multiplication Farm Manager Md Kabiruddin Ahmed were present at the meeting.
