Aman cultivation begins in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, July 6 (BSS): Cultivation of transplanted Aman paddy has started in five upazilas of the district.
The farmers are now busy preparing their land with wooden ploughs, power tillers and tractors.
The transplantation process will continue until the end of the Bengali month of Bhadra.
Block Supervisors of each Union Parishad (UP) of the district are providing necessary consultative supports to the farmers.
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC)-approved dealers have sold high quality seeds to the farmers.
Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (Rakub) and non-government organisations (NGOs are distributing short-term loans to the growers.
According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources, this year's target of transplanted Aman cultivation in the district is 81,000 hectares of land and the production target is 0.30 million tonnes, out of which high yielding varieties will be cultivated on 61,000 hectares of land to produce 245,000 tonnes of paddy and local variety on 20,000 hectares of land with a production target of 55,000 tonnes.
