BADC safe veg production project gets ECNEC nod

An ECNEC meeting on Tuesday approved a project for production of safe vegetable, fruit and flower by using water-efficient irrigation technology and constructing polysheds, says a press release.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will implement the project in 45 upazilas of 21 districts under six divisions.

The project cost is estimated at Tk 2.02 billion (202 crore) and the project period is from July 01, 2023 to June 30, 2028.

Under the project, 24,204 tonnes of safe vegetables, fruits and flowers will be produced.

Executive Engineer Md. Mahabub Alam, focal point officer of the project, said this project would help export the agricultural produce and earn foreign exchange.
