Bangladesh-Denmark climate change deal signed
A grant agreement was signed between Denmark and Bangladesh on "Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Project (CCAMP)" Monday, says a press release.
The total budget of CCAMP will be Tk 1.12 billion (112.00 crore) with Danish contribution of Tk 30.00 million. The duration of the programme will be from July 2014 to June 2016. Ms Mahmuda Begum, Additional Secretary of External Relations Division (ERD) and the Danish ambassador Ms. Hanne Fugl Eskjaer signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments. Officials from both sides were present on the occasion.
Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan(BCCSAP) is being supported through the introduction of climate proofing and green growth initiatives that empower vulnerable communities, capacitate the private sector and make better use of natural resources.
The government of Denmark as a development partner, is also providing financial assistance to Bangladesh in various development sectors such as, Agriculture & Livestock, Water Supply & Sanitation, Infrastructure Development, Human Rights and Good Governance etc.
