The 2nd joint platform meeting between Bangladesh and Denmark was held at the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority office in Dhaka on Thursday.
A key outcome of the meeting was the mutual approval of a local partner of APM Terminals (APMT) for the upcoming Laldia Container Terminal Project.
At the meeting both sides reviewed progress on bilateral cooperation and reaffirm their shared commitment to transparency, efficiency, and innovation in PPP projects, says a press statement.
Participants underscored the importance of international expertise and strong local partnerships in ensuring long-term operational sustainability of major infrastructure ventures like Laldia.
Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Chief Executive Officer, PPP Authority, Mohammed Yousuf, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, and Rear Admiral S M Moniruzzaman, Chairman, Chittagong Port Authority, attended the meeting from Bangladesh side.
Attendees from Denmark side included Lina Gandløse Hansen, State Secretary for Trade & Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark; Christian Brix Møller, Ambassador of Denmark; Bhaskar Sengupta, Head of Investments - India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, APM Terminals; Pieter Bas Bredius, Head of Investments - Europe, APM Terminals; and Khalid Mustafiz Gaffar, Country Director - Public Affairs, Maersk Bangladesh.
Speaking at the meeting, participants highlighted that the Laldia Container Terminal project will not only expand Bangladesh's port capacity but also enhance trade competitiveness and align with global standards for efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to fast-tracking implementation of agreed actions, and to position the Bangladesh-Denmark partnership as a model for sustainable PPP cooperation.
