RANGAMATI, May 7 (BSS): The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is expecting a bumper production of jackfruits in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) during the current season.
DAE office sources said a total of 2,857 hectares of land have been brought under jackfruit cultivation in the hilly district.
A good number of 'Moji' (jackfruit flowers) that develops into a matured jackfruit, fell off the trees due to absence of rainfall in the region. Even then the production of the juicy fruit is satisfactory than the previous year, said DAE officer Taroon Bhattacharya.
