CCCI holds B2B meet with JETRO, JCIAD

CHATTOGRAM, May 24: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and Japan Commerce and Industry Association in Dhaka (JCIAD) held a business-to-business meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting was held at the Bangabandhu Hall of the CCCI in the port city in the afternoon with CCCI president Mahabubul Alam in the chair.

JETRO representative in Bangladesh Yuji Ando, JBCCI president Myung-Ho Lee, former CCCI president Ali Ahamed, former VP Omar Hajjaj, CCCI directors Ahid Seraj Chowdhury Swapon, Anjan Shekhor Das, Benjir Chowdhury Nishan, Md Shariar Jahan, Najmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, Shafique Ahamed Salam, Iftekhar Hossain, Tanvir Mostafa Chowdhury and Mohammed Nasirul Alam and representatives from Japanese companies spoke at the event.

Mr Ando said, "The recent visit of the prime minister of Bangladesh to Japan is successful. We'll work with the CCCI to make a plan of cooperation and investment, which will help both countries increase friendship."

As a development partner of Bangladesh, Japan is building the Matarbari deep-sea port in Bangladesh. The port will be the gateway to South Asia, he observed.

"The businessmen of Japan are very interested in investing in Chattogram as the seaport and deep-sea port are situated here," said Mr Ando.

At the meeting, Mr Lee said the representatives of 16 Japanese companies have already visited Chattogram to invest here.

CCCI president Alam stressed the need for mutual cooperation to develop trade relationship.

He also expressed gratitude to the Japan government and Japanese investors for investing in Bangladesh and also sought further investment here.
