CHICAGO, Apr 22 (Xinhua) : Chicago agricultural commodities dropped across the board Monday due to liquidation by funds. The most active corn contract for May delivery dropped 6.75 cents, or 1.35 per cent, to close at 4.9375 dollars per bushel. May wheat shed 23.5 cents, or 3.36 per cent, to close at 6.755 dollars per bushel. May soybeans lost 15 cents, or one per cent, to close at 14.8725 dollars per bushel.
Barclays Bank's Monday announcement that it is exiting the commodity market is a typical liquidation by funds.
US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported that US exported 63 million bushels of corn last week, well above the 38-million-bushel weekly average needed to reach the USDA annual target, while the export of 18.2 million bushels of wheat was below the 24.8-million-bushel weekly average needed.
