CHICAGO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua): Chicago agricultural commodities closed higher yesterday as tensions in Ukraine led to a rush of short covering.
The most active corn contract for December delivery rose 7 cents, or 1.91 per cent, to close at 3.7425 U.S. dollars per bushel. Soybean contract for November delivery rose 14.25 cents, or 1.34 per cent, to close at 10.8 dollars per bushel. The most active wheat contract for September delivery rose 15.5 cents, or 2.81 per cent, to close at 5.68 dollars per bushel.
Corn, wheat and soybeans all rose Wednesday as grain traders started short covering ahead of the weekend amid concerns over the amassing of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border and the risks of escalating conflict spreading across the Russian border.
