China is keen to transfer its technology for the development of Bangladesh's state-owned paper and sugar mills, reports UNB.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang expressed his country's interest when he met Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at the latter's office.
The Chinese envoy said his country is also interested to work with Bangladesh in the areas where both the countries will be benefited.
He said the Chinese vice-premier will visit Bangladesh at the end of May and is likely to inaugurate Shahjalal Fertiliser Factory along with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh can utilise the experience of China about infrastructural development, Ma Mingqiang added.
Terming China an economic superpower, Amu said Bangladesh is interested to work with China to expedite its march towards economic development through industrialisation.
He urged the envoy to increase Chinese investment in Bangladesh..
Later, South African High Commissioner to Bangladesh Geoff QM Doidge also met the minister.
Amu said a project has been taken to produce sugar from sugar beet in a mill on experimental basis. All sugar mills will produce sugar from sugar beet if the project is successful, he added.
