Core group for introducing banking channel operations between BD, CIS

President of CIS-BCCI (Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Mr. Md. Habib Ullah Dawn along with Board of Directors of the chamber met Fazle Kabir, Governor, Bangladesh Bank Sunday at Bangladesh Bank Conference Room, said a statement.

CIS-BCCI President briefed the Governor about various activities of the CIS-BCCI Chamber for promoting the trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and CIS countries including Russia at the private sector forum.

He emphasized on the potentiality of CIS market including Russia for Bangladesh in our bid to diversify the export market, as this market is huge and could lessen our dependency on US & EU alone.

He, however, pointed out that at present the main impediment is business transaction in banking channel. He emphasized that banking channel facilities may be established between Russia and Bangladesh.

Central banks of both the countries may initiate action on this.

The Governor of the Bangladesh Bank in response, appreciated the role of CIS-BCCI in promoting trade relation with Russia & CIS countries and advised his office to form a small core group who will work in close liaison with CIS-BCCI & other stakeholders from private sector to find out a strategy for introducing banking channel operations smoothly between two countries.

Deputy Governor Mr. Ahmed Jamal, Advisor of the Bangladesh Bank Mr. Md Allahmalik Kazemi and other relevant senior officers of Foreign Exchange Policy Department were also present.

CIS-BCCI Senior Vice President, Mr. Md. Lokman Hossain Akash, Vice President Mr. Mohammad Ali Deen, Directors- Mr. Mahbub Islam Runu, Mr. Manzur Ahmed, Mr. Masud Quader Mona, Engr. Mehedi Hasan, Mr. Asif Ahmed, Mr. Raihan Azad Tito and Secretary of the Chamber Mustafa Mohiuddin were present on the occasion.
