The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) will work with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) and the Daffodil International University (DIU) to create skilled professionals and workforce for the economic development of the country.
The DCCI signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the two institutions to this end separately on Monday.
DCCI President Shams Mahmud, ICSB President Muzaffar Ahmed and Acting Vice Chancellor of DIU Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbubul Haque signed the MoUs on behalf of their respective organisations.
Shams Mahmud said a strong secretariat and its effective compliance play a vital role in a company to help economic development in the country.
He suggested designing new modules of professional courses jointly by the DCCI Business institute (DBI) and the ICSB.
He also said that the industry sector of Bangladesh needs huge skilled professionals and that the universities in the country should focus on producing skilled workforce.
Chairman, Board of Trustees of DIU, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan urged the DBI to conduct research to identify resourceful course module so that universities could outline such curriculum.
He also said that the industry and academia should work hand in hand for the development of the country's economy.
He called for ensuring entrepreneur-friendly curriculum so that a student, after their academic career, could aim to be a new entrepreneur.
ICSB President Muzaffar Ahmed said research is an important element for economic development.
The private sector could play a driving role for the development of research, he said.
An efficient secretariat helps the company to grow financially, he added.
DCCI Senior Vice President N K A Mobin, Vice President Mohammad Bashiruddin, Directors Monowar Hossain and S M Zillur Rahman, DCCI President (elect) Rizwan Rahman, Covenor of DCCI's standing committee on Skills Development Golam Zilani, Secretary General (Acting) Afsarul Arifeen and Secretary Md. Joynal Abdin were present at the MoU signing ceremonies.
