The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) assured Saudi entrepreneurs that they would provide all kinds of support for investment in Bangladesh.
The apex trade body made the assurance during a meeting on November 2, 2023 (Thursday) with the Federation of Saudi Chambers and Commerce (FSCC) in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. FBCCI president Mahbubul Alam and vice chairman of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Abdul Aziz Saleh Al Faridi, led their respective sides.
Mahbubul Alam said Saudi Arabia assisted in the development of Bangladesh in the past, and FBCCI always considers Saudi Arabia as one of the important development partners of Bangladesh.
He said that around 2.6 million Bangladeshi expatriates were sending remittances from Saudi Arabia.
He called upon the Saudi entrepreneurs to invest in ready-made garments, ceramics, furniture, frozen foods, halal foods, leather, jute, and jute goods. He also called upon them to invest in the banking and financial sector, clean energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and housing sectors in Bangladesh.
The chief of the FBCCI also requested that the Saudi government take more skilled manpower from Bangladesh.
The vice chairman of SCC Abdul Aziz Saleh Al Faridi said that Bangladesh has experienced significant growth in the trade and business sectors.
He said that there exists a favorable prospect for both Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh to enhance their mutual benefits through bilateral trade and investment.
Earlier, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia formed a joint business council during the Bangladesh Business Summit 2023, where the Saudi commerce minister participated in the event in Bangladesh.
And as part of the continuation of the joint business council, the traders of the two countries (FBCCI) and the FSCC also held a meeting on Thursday (November 2) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to the FBCCI.
