Good liquoring teas mostly dearer

A few available good liquoring teas saw more competition this week and were mostly dearer but the bulk of the offerings which comprised Medium and Low Medium quality were mostly neglected and suffered heavy withdrawals, in the weekly auction market held in the port city on Tuesday.

However, plainer teas met with an improved demand at dearer rates. Blenders lent good support with more interest from the Loose tea buyers particularly for the plainer varies, according to a statement of Bangladesh Tea Board.

Dusts sold well.

CTC LEAF: As many as 48,343 packages of Current Season and 15 packages of Old Season Teas on offer met with a fair demand with heavy withdrawals.

BROKENS: A few clean Brokers met with a good demand and were mostly firm to slightly easier. Medium varieties met with much less demand and there were heavy withdrawals in this category. Plainer teas met with an improved market and were mostly dearer.

FANNINGS: A few good liquoring Fannings met with good competition and were dearer. Here again Medium varieties suffered heavy withdrawals due to lack of bids from the buyers.

Plainer varieties, however, witnessed more competition and were dearer.

CTC DUST: As many as 7,684 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with quite a good demand. Well made good liquoring teas met with good competition and were firm to slightly dearer market.

Medium teas were barely steady to easier with fair withdrawals. Plainer categories met with slightly improved demand and sold well at around last levels. Blenders were quite active with a little more support from the loose tea buyers compared to last sale.
