Md Iqbal Hossain, income tax commissioner of Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), has been elected the president of the BCS Taxation Association for the next one year.
Additional tax commissioner Mohammad Mahmuduzzaman has been elected secretary general of the association for the 2022-23 term.
In an election on Friday, held at the city's Bangabandhu International Conference Center, the association members elected them along with other members of the new executive committee.
Mr Iqbal is member of 13th BCS and Mr Mahmuduzzaman 18th BCS.
Tax commissioners MM Fazlul Haque, Mutasim Billah Faruqui and additional tax commissioner Md Sirajul Karim have been elected as vice presidents of the association.
Joint commissioners of taxes Shaikh Shamim Bulbul and Rezina Sultana Riju have been elected as joint secretaries general while additional tax commissioner Md Mohtashibur Rahman Khan has been elected as treasurer.
Md Golam Kibria, deputy commissioner of taxes (DCT), has been elected as publication and publicity secretary while Mohammad Sihabul Islam elected co-publication and publicity secretary.
DCT Mushtaba Istiaq Ahmad has been elected as office secretary and DCT Omar Faruk co-office secretary.
Other newly-elected secretaries and co-secretaries are: Research secretary Md Moniruzzaman, co-research secretary Mansur Ali, social welfare secretary Nargis Akter, co-social welfare secretary Md Sazzadul Islam Mir Mithu, information and communication technology secretary Md Mahady Masud Faisal, co-ICT Mowdud Ahmed Bhuiyan, cultural secretary Monalisa Shahreen Sushmita, co-cultural secretary Md Al-Amin, sports secretary Md Shajidul Islam, co-sports secretary KM Tanimuzzaman.
