Iraq keen to work with BD in leather, textiles, pharma sectors

Iraq Industries and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid Battal Najim, who is visiting Bangladesh, expressed his country's interest to work jointly with Bangladesh in leather, textiles and pharmaceuticals sectors.
He came up with the assertion when he met industries minister Nurul Majid Mamun Humayun at the ministry of industries in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Mentioning Bangladesh's historical ties with Iraq, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that Iraq is contributing towards socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
He laid emphasis on enhancing mutual cooperation for the benefits of the two friendly countries.
He called upon the Iraqi investors to invest in Bangladesh considering the investment-friendly offer by the government.
Iraq could be benefitted by importing garment items, jute products, leather goods and medicines from Bangladesh, he added.
The meeting was also discussed on simplification of Iraqi visa for Bangladeshis, legalising Bangladeshi expatriates in Iraq and exporting more manpower from Bangladesh to Iraq.
State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Iraqi Deputy Minister of Planning Ahmed Abdul Jabar Ali Al Karim, Industries Secretary Jakia Sultana and others were present at the meeting.
