JS recommends passage of N-Power Plant Bill

A parliamentary standing committee on Science and Technology Ministry Thursday held a discussion on "Nuclear Power Plant Bill, 2015," aiming to facilitate the setting up of plants in the country, reports BSS.
The bill was placed in the Parliament on Tuesday last.
The 8th meeting of the JS committee also suggested passage of the bill after necessary amendments and after proper scrutiny.
The meeting was held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its president Dr AFM Ruhal Haque presiding.
Among others, committee members M Aman Ullah, Morshed Alam, and Ayen Uddin were present at the meeting. State minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak was also present on the occasion at per desire of the committee president.
On July 13, the cabinet approved the draft of the "Nuclear Power Plant Ordinance, 2015".
Under the Bill, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) is the owner organisation while a company, 'Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited', will be formed as an operating organisation.
