Jute production expected in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, May 25 (BSS): Chuadanga Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed the target of cultivating jute on 20,440 hectares of land in the district in the current season.

Of the total land, 3,200 hectares will be brought under jute cultivation in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, 8,000 hectares in Alamdanga upazila, 7,240 hectares in Damurhuda upazila, and 2,000 hectares in Jibonagar upazila.

DAE officials said 73,580 tonnes of jute are expected to be produced in the district, if climate remains favourable.

They also said DAE has ensured smooth supply of fertilisers, seeds and insecticides at fair prices to fulfil the jute cultivation target in the district.
